Nubo Launches World’s First Android™- Based Remote Work Environment

Startup Reinvents BYOD with a cloud-based enterprise solution that provides complete data ownership for enterprises and security for every employee in an organization, compatibility with any device and instant access to a personal work environment

AIRPORTCITY, Israel – August 28, 2013 – Nubo, the Android-based virtual workspace, has launched an enterprise-class solution that addresses the most pervasive concerns of the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) movement. While most BYOD solutions try to manage devices through high-maintenance systems or space-consuming dual personas on mobile devices, Nubo has created a virtual workspace where all applications run and all data is stored on a remote server that runs on Android.

Because Nubo provides a remote work environment, IT is free from the burden and responsibility of managing enterprise and private mobile devices. For the first time, organizations can leverage the flexibility and efficiency of BYOD policies without compromising user experience and security, or running into compatibility issues.

icecreamThough based on Android OS, Nubo has the unique ability to be used on iOS or Android devices, as well as any web browser, thanks to Nubo’s patent pending UX Over IP technology, a groundbreaking remote display protocol. UX Over IP supports communication with mobile sensors and native touch while automatically adapting to any device’s display size, allowing any device user to access the remote workspace.
With Nubo, users work via a remote server that runs on Android OS. The server be based in the Nubo cloud or within an organization’s data center. Because all Android applications and their related data will run on the remote server(s) rather than on the actual device, users can take advantage of computing power normally unavailable to smartphones, tablets and laptops.
Absolutely no enterprise data gets stored on the mobile device. In addition, all users in an organization can be instantly connected or disconnected from their personal work environment. The user interface, called the Nubo Player, simply displays what the user is doing on the server. Every Nubo user occupies a separate sandbox within the virtual machine, and all files and data are accessed from within the sandbox.

Each user enjoys a professional work environment tailored to his or her role and responsibilities. A graphic designer, for instance, would have a different work environment and apps than an accountant or salesperson.

One admin can simply install applications on a central server, and then the entire organization can use them.

Founded by Israel Lifshitz, the entrepreneur behind SysAid Technologies, a global leader in IT service management solutions, Nubo aims to create a central, highly customizable virtual office space for organizations with mobile employees, multiple office locations and diverse app needs.

designUnlike many BYOD solutions, which can require an IT army, Nubo is designed to be implemented and used with minimal management. One admin can simply install applications on a central server, and then the entire organization can use them. Employees also have the freedom to choose their favorite work apps from a selection of more than one million Android apps.
Because the server runs on Android, organizations can offer both popular apps and enterprise apps on Nubo. Development teams only need to develop customized applications for Android, rather than multiple apps for different operating systems, since apps actually run on the (Android) server rather than on the user’s device. This saves valuable time and development resources. Nubo also comes preloaded with useful business-class apps including an email client, calendar and Office apps.
“The era of ‘pushing’ apps to devices, remote lock-and-wipe and fear-driven geo-tracking is coming to an end,” said Lifshitz. “With Nubo, we bring enterprises true oversight, peace of mind and flexibility, and an ability to deliver the full benefits of the mobile revolution to employees-without taking any personal drive space or remotely controlling their private devices and data.”
